Job summary

Marva is seeking a Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour in the community around Wolverhampton. The role emphasizes patience, resilience and a person-centred approach, with duties including supporting daily living skills, planning activities, and recording notes using digital care planning systems.

Qualifications

• At least 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
• PMVA training.
• Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
• Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
• Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate record keeping.
• A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).
• First Aid training or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
• Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
• Supporting with daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs and personal routines.
• Applying PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
• Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
• Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure positive outcomes.
