Job Advert Role Description

An amazing job opportunity has arisen for a committed Learning Disability Nurse to work in an exceptional hospital based in Ayr, South Ayrshire. This hospital provides acute adult mental health services within a low Secure Service, for patients with personality disorders.

As a Nurse, you will be working for one of the UK’s leading healthcare providers. You should have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with the multidisciplinary team, external agencies, patients, and relatives. A good working knowledge of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is essential. Experience in a related environment is also required.


As a Nurse, your key duties include:

  • Providing a high standard of care to people with mental illness and personality disorders
  • Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement
  • Contributing to patient assessments, creating a care plan with the individual, and monitoring progress
  • Leading shifts and mentoring/supporting student nurses and team members at a senior level
  • Following all codes of conduct, standards, legislation, respecting rights, and promoting ethical practice

  • A commitment to patient-centered, values-based, and evidence-based care

Percentage of pro-rata splits for Welcome bonus based on working hours:

16 hours and below contract – 0%
16.5 – 32.5 hours contract – 50%
33 hours+ contract – 100%

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Full-time hours: 37.5 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:
• Ayr KA6 6PT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
