Job summary

Derby Moor Spencer Academy in England is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and reliable individual to join our Inclusion & Well-being team to support students with SEND or lower attainment. The role involves working with pupils to promote learning, well-being and a safe school environment.

The successful candidate will assist the class teacher with planning, provide support to individuals and groups, and contribute to behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in planning teaching and learning activities.
• Provide support to individuals and groups on teacher planned activities.
• Contribute to the implementation of an effective behaviour management strategy.
• Develop positive relationships with parents, carers and families and share information appropriately.
• Support pupils' health and well-being and safeguarding in line with policies.
• Prepare learning resources and ensure materials are ready for use, minimising hazards.
• Support literacy and numeracy development and provide feedback to pupils.

About this Role

We are looking to appoint anenthusiastic, committed and reliable individual to work within our successful,forward thinking and highly skilled Inclusion & Well-being team. Therole will involve working with a range of students including those with SEND orwho may have arrived at secondary school with lower than expected levels oflearning.

The main responsibilities ofthe successful candidate will include:

• Assisting theclass teacher in the planning of teaching and learning activities.
• Providing supportto individuals and groups on teacher planned activities.
• Contributing tothe implementation of an effective behaviour management strategy.
• Developingpositive relationships with parents, carers and families by taking apartnership approach, maintaining and sharing accurate information whereappropriate.
• Contributing tothe health and well-being of pupils through the support of safeguarding forpupils by ensuring a safe environment, and following policies & proceduresat all times.
• Working alongsidethe class teacher to ensure that learning resources and materials are ready foruse in activities whilst recognising and minimising potential hazards andmaking adjustments where necessary.
• Supporting pupilsin activities to develop their literacy and numeracy skills by having anawareness of individual needs, learning targets, and the relevant supportrequired to assist pupils' development, offering encouragement and feedbackwhere appropriate.
