Job summary

Cheshire College - South & West is seeking a Personal Development Tutor to join the Chester Campus team, delivering group tutorials and personal development activities for 16–18 year olds on a 38-week, part-year contract.

You will lead sessions on employability, British Values, equality and diversity, and PREVENT; support students with progress and wellbeing, set targets, and liaise with tutors and managers to refer concerns. A Level 3 qualification and an Enhanced DBS check are required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification.
• GCSEs English and Maths at grade C.
• Excellent personal tutor, advisor or mentor skills.
• Excellent knowledge of tutorial themes.
• Ability to deliver effective group tutorial sessions, including those on more sensitive topics.
• Experience of delivery to groups of young people (16 to 18).
• Good working knowledge of target setting and review methods.
• Empathy and sensitivity; Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver group tutorial sessions and activities covering Employability, British Values, Equality and Diversity and PREVENT.
• Conduct personal inductions, build belonging and resilience for students.
• Meet with managers/staff to discuss pastoral concerns and refer students as needed.
• Support learner participation in enrichment and learner voice activities.
• Support students with academic/personal progress and review against targets.
• Use systems to monitor attendance and proactively resolve issues.

Job Title: Personal Development Tutor (EL395)

Salary: £29,838 to £32,579 per annum, pro rata

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, part year working (38 weeks per year).

Location: Chester Campus

A new opportunity has arisen for an inspirational person to join our College in the role of Personal Development Tutor at our Chester Campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver group tutorial sessions and activities to cover key personal development themes including Employability, British Values, Equality and Diversity and the PREVENT agenda;
• Conduct an effective personal induction for students to the College and develop both a sense of belonging and resilience to succeed;
• Meet with relevant managers and staff to discuss pastoral issues affecting any students giving concern and, where necessary, to refer students to more specialist services;
• Support learner participation in opportunities that develop skills and knowledge including enrichment and learner voice activities;
• Support students with academic/personal progress and review against targets on an individual basis in line with the College frequency standard. Insisting on high ambitions for all students; and
• Use dedicated systems to monitor attendance concerns with the cohort and proactively resolve issues.

• GCSEs C (4/5) in English and Maths (or equivalent);
