Qualifications

Job description

As a Learner Support Assistant, you will provide person-centred support and care to clients with disabilities, both during activities and in between, to enable them to benefit fully from the provision.

Job purpose

To support and promote the development of clients attending the ‘Skills Tank’ Provision and to meet the social care and support needs of vulnerable adults with diverse needs and conditions.

To assist the Hub Manager in delivering educational and learning activities through engaging and enjoyable methods, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and quality service at all times.

  1. Provide concise and accurate feedback to the Hub Manager on each learner’s progress to ensure assessments are targeted and learning objectives are clear.
  2. Monitor and respond to changes in individual behaviour, especially when activities are altered, e.g., rescheduling swimming due to minibus issues.
  3. Be familiar with fire safety regulations and policies, ensuring the safety of students and colleagues, and promote health and safety practices throughout the Skills Tank.
  4. Participate in all relevant training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Experience working with adults with learning difficulties/disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour.
  • Desirable: Knowledge and experience of autism and mental health.
  • Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care - Adults.
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
