Job description

As a Learner Support Assistant, you will provide person-centred support and care to clients with disabilities, both during activities and in between, enabling them to fully benefit from the provision.

Job Purpose

Support and promote the development of clients attending the ‘Skills Tank’ Provision, addressing the social care and support needs of vulnerable adults with diverse needs and conditions.

Assist the Hub Manager in delivering educational and learning activities through engaging and enjoyable experiences, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and quality at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide concise and accurate feedback to the Hub Manager on each learner’s progress to ensure assessments are targeted and learning goals are clear.
  2. Monitor and respond to changes in individual behaviour, especially when activities are altered (e.g., scheduling changes due to operational issues).
  3. Ensure awareness of fire safety regulations and policies, promoting health and safety throughout the Skills Tank.
  4. Participate in relevant training sessions to develop skills and knowledge.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Experience working with adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviours.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of autism and mental health issues.
  • Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care - Adults.
  • Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
