Job summary

Itec in Blackwood, Caerphilly is seeking a Learner Coach to provide end-to-end support to learners on JGW+. The role focuses on pastoral care, safeguarding, and guiding learners through their journey with targeted interventions.

You will manage a caseload, conduct inductions, and liaise with Careers Wales to secure referrals. A strong emphasis on safeguarding and learner wellbeing is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable learners.
• Experience of working with unemployed young people.
• Learning Coach L4 Qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Safeguarding and Prevent experience.
• Good communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage with young learners to motivate and inspire them to overcome barriers and achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end structured support and guidance to all learners.

• Identify learner personal support needs and coordinate with relevant services.
• Act as point of contact for safeguarding issues and maintain records per policies.

About the role

To provide end to end structured support and guidance to all Learners, ensuring the attainment of positive sustained outcomes by providing a variety of interventions throughout their journey on JGW+.

Your Impact

• Responsible for the pastoral care and wellbeing support of all learners.
• Accountable for effective management of a caseload of learners. Actively taking part in frequent caseload reviews to discuss all learners with line manager
• Responsible for the identification of learner personal support needs
• Responsible for being point of contact for all safeguarding issues, updating My Concern in a timely manner, making external safeguarding referrals as required and complying with the Company’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining and growing the relationship with Careers Wales (CW) to support referrals on to traineeship programmes.
• Responsible for conducting learner interviews and inductions including, meeting and greeting all learners, completing and checking all relevant documentation, delivering structured induction session and making sure all learners have a clear understanding of the provision and programme.
• Accountable for reviewing all relevant paperwork identifying any additional learning needs, for example childcare, 1-2-1, counselling and notify relevant departments, ensuring accurate records are recorded within the learner file.

Desirable

• Social work or youth worker experience or qualifications
• Welsh Government traineeship / youth programmes experience
• IAG Qualification level 3 as a minimum or working towards
• Full clean driving license with use of vehicle.
