Job summary

Brompton Bicycle is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to investigate, develop and implement improvements across the factory floor, focusing on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to raise efficiency and quality.

You’ll lead projects, collaborate with production, quality, NPI, design and customer service, and help roll out new equipment and techniques while maintaining safety and standards.

Qualifications

• Proven demonstrable experience in process/industrial/continuous improvement engineering.
• Technical knowledge and experience of LEAN principles and other manufacturing theories.
• Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis, DMAIC or other techniques.
• Excellent self-motivation and proactive mindset to prioritise work.
• Project management skills with balancing short-term issues and long-term improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement projects to improve manufacturing efficiency, capacity, and product quality.
• Keep stakeholders updated on project progress.
• Offer technical support to production and shop floor teams.
• Improve Right First Time KPI and drive a zero-defect culture.
• Define and improve process capabilities.
• Collaborate with operations to implement lean techniques and reduce waste.
• Plan workflow, space, equipment layout and logistics to boost efficiency.
• Devise systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information and energy.
• Build relationships and feedback loops between production, quality, NPI, design and customer service.
• Assist with planning, purchasing and implementing new equipment and technologies.
• Consider innovative ideas to drive enhanced operational activities.
