Job description

A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The Role: Leadership & Talent Development Manager (12 Month Fixed Term Maternity Cover)

Join our Global Learning Academy at British Airways as a Leadership & Talent Development Manager, a key role in shaping the future of our people strategy. You will lead the design and delivery of innovative leadership and talent development programmes that build skills, inspire performance, and drive engagement across our organisation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify skill gaps and align development initiatives with strategic goals.
  • Design and implement impactful leadership and talent development programmes that build capabilities and support succession planning.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure development strategies are responsive to business needs and integrated with broader organisational priorities.
  • Champion a coaching culture by facilitating coaching and mentoring networks to support knowledge-sharing and professional growth.
  • Evaluate programme effectiveness through data-driven insights and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Manage budgets effectively to deliver cost-efficient, high-quality learning and development solutions.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive and development-focused culture.

What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

  • A consultative and collaborative mindset, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
  • A forward-thinking approach, always seeking to challenge the status quo and innovate for the future.
  • Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • A genuine passion for people development, wellbeing, and creating a culture of continuous learning.

Your Experience:

  • Proven experience in leadership and talent development, L&D, or a related field.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of modern learning principles and experience with innovative development solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • CIPD qualification (preferred but not essential).

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.
