Job summary

Tioxide in the United Kingdom seeks a Workshop Mechanical & Electrical Supervisor to oversee mechanical repair, overhaul and refurbishment in the engineering workshop. You will supervise rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes and related assets, ensuring they are repaired and tested to engineering standards and site procedures.

Essentially you will manage workshop personnel and contractors, coordinate electrical/instrumentation tasks, and uphold quality records, driving reliability improvements

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment refurbishment or engineering workshop activities.
• Previous supervisory experience within a maintenance, repair or engineering workshop.
• Strong understanding of rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, valves and mechanical systems.
• Experience supervising equipment overhaul and refurbishment activities.
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications and maintenance standards.
• Knowledge of quality control, inspection and testing requirements.
• Good planning, organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Safety, Health & Compliance: Ensure all workshop mechanical and electrical activities are completed safely, compliantly and in line with site procedures, permits, engineering standards, statutory requirements and Management of Change expectations.
• Workshop Supervision: Supervise workshop personnel and contractors, allocate resources, monitor work progress and support workforce development to ensure repair and refurbishment activities are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Mechanical Maintenance & Refurbishment Delivery: Coordinate overhaul, repair, refurbishment and assembly of mechanical equipment for maintenance, shutdowns, projects and reliability improvement activities.
• Electrical & Instrumentation Coordination: Coordinate workshop-based electrical and instrumentation support activities, ensuring inspection, testing, repair and refurbishment requirements are effectively planned and delivered.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards across all workshop activities with inspection requirements, repair records, testing procedures and documentation.
• Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement: Support plant reliability improvements by identifying recurring equipment failures, contributing to root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Planning, Resource & Contractor Management: Work with planners, engineers, stores, contractors and refurbishment providers to ensure resources are available and delivered safely on schedule.
• Workshop Equipment & Facilities: Maintain equipment, tooling and work areas to ensure a safe, organized environment.
