Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal/Associate Process Engineer to join the Water Utilities Division in the UK, supporting Thames Water wastewater and sludge treatment programmes. You will develop process solutions, lead design work, and build strong client relationships across Reading and other offices.

You will apply expertise in wastewater technology, assist with investment planning, and mentor engineers while contributing to proposals and design reports.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering with professional registration or chartership planned or achieved.
• Significant experience in municipal wastewater or sludge treatment scheme design.
• Knowledge of UK water sector standards and client engagement practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering input across feasibility, concept, outline and detailed design for wastewater and sludge projects.
• Act as trusted technical advisor to Thames Water, supporting project development and investment planning.
• Develop and review process designs including PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and equipment sizing.
• Analyse operational data to identify optimisation opportunities and improve plant performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and support resource planning and delivery teams.
• Support business development and client engagement within Thames Water framework.
