Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering a UTC Lead Emergency Care Practitioner role in the new Urgent Treatment Centre on site.

The successful candidate will split time between direct clinical care of minor injuries and illnesses and leadership of the EP and HCA teams, with MDT collaboration and a focus on service development; typically shifts from 07:30 to 22:30, including early, late and long days, with occasional bank holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse (NMC) or HCPC registered professional with current status.
• Master’s degree level or equivalent with relevant specialty training.
• Postgraduate urgent/emergency care qualifications and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the UTC with 60% direct clinical care and 40% leadership duties.
• Provide managerial and professional support to EPs and HCAs.
• Develop the UTC service and oversee MDT collaboration.
• Coordinate shift patterns including early, late, and long days.
• Ensure high standards of patient care within ED/UTC environment.
• Maintain involvement in governance, training, and continuous improvement.
