Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Urban Drainage Modeller to join our growing wastewater modelling team in Newcastle or Leeds. You will lead complex urban drainage and wastewater modelling projects across major UK frameworks, delivering technical direction and high-quality outputs.

You will develop advanced hydraulic models to assess flood risk and support sustainable development, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in urban drainage or wastewater modelling.
• Strong technical expertise in InfoWorks ICM.
• Proven experience leading projects and providing technical direction.
• Experience mentoring and developing technical teams.
• Strong communication, report writing and presentation skills.
• Experience working on regulated water industry projects or frameworks.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE or CIWEM).

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the delivery of urban drainage and wastewater modelling projects across major UK frameworks.
• Develop and apply advanced hydraulic models to assess flood risk, optimise drainage systems and support sustainable development.
• Provide technical governance, review and sign-off of modelling outputs.
• Support project planning, coordination and delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers and modellers, supporting their technical and professional development.
• Contribute to client engagement, technical discussions and long-term solution development.
