Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Chief Surveyor for underground metalliferous operations in Randburg. This leadership role directs the surveying department, ensuring data accuracy, team management, and implementation of advanced surveying technologies to support mine planning and production.

The role requires a degree or diploma in Mine Surveying or Geomatics, 10+ years of underground mining surveying, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Deswik, Leica Geo Office, and Surpac.

Qualifications

• A National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency is highly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in mine surveying, underground metalliferous mining experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Deswik, Leica Geo Office, Surpac.

Responsibilities

• Oversee underground mine surveying operations for accuracy and efficiency.
• Establish and maintain primary/secondary control networks for the mine.
• Process and interpret survey data using advanced surveying software and hardware.
• Produce mine plans, cross-sections, and volume calculations for reporting/planning.
• Collaborate with mine planning, geology, and production teams for spatial data.
