Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council's Highways and Transport Team is seeking a Principal Highways and Transport Planning Officer. You will lead the Local Transport Plan development, monitor its delivery, and oversee the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans.

You will manage transport studies, act as client for transport modelling with consultants, and work with the Local Plan team to strengthen the transport evidence base and mitigate impacts.

Qualifications

• Lead on preparing, monitoring and implementing the Local Transport Plan (LTP) and supporting strategies.
• Ensure these strategies remain effective, forward-thinking and aligned with wider council priorities.
• Scope and manage a range of transport studies, including appointing and overseeing external consultants.
• Act as the Council’s client lead for transport modelling, ensuring data reflects development proposals and network changes.
• Collaborate with the Local Plan team to develop a robust transport evidence base and mitigate impacts.
