Exeter College seeks an Experienced Youth Worker to lead a high-impact project helping Year 11 pupils at risk of NEET move into further education, apprenticeships, employment or other positive destinations.
You will manage your own caseload, support safeguarding, and coordinate with a second Youth Worker in North Devon while building trusted relationships with young people and families to identify barriers and plan personalised transitions.
Experienced Youth Worker? Make a measurable impact with us. You’ll lead a new, high-impact project supporting Year 11 pupils who are at risk of becoming NEET. You’ll help young people navigate their final stages of secondary education and make a successful, sustained move into further education, an apprenticeship, employment or another positive destination.
Alongside managing your own caseload, you’ll help coordinate the day-to-day work of another Youth Worker in North Devon. You’ll build trusted, professional relationships with young people and, where appropriate, their families; identify barriers; agree personalised transition plans; and provide practical and motivational support through applications, enrolment, induction and the crucial first weeks of a young person’s next step.
Working with schools, College teams, careers services, employers, apprenticeship teams, local authorities and specialist agencies, you’ll coordinate support so young people do not fall through the gaps. You’ll maintain accurate records, monitor engagement and destinations, lead case discussions, and elevate risks and safeguarding concerns promptly.
You’ll have experience engaging vulnerable, disadvantaged or disengaged young people, building positive relationships and maintaining professional boundaries. You’ll be confident assessing needs, agreeing action plans and reviewing progress, with excellent communication skills and sound safeguarding knowledge. Experience supporting transitions into education, apprenticeships or employment, or young people with SEND or social, emotional or mental health needs, would be an advantage, but is not essential.
