Job summary

GE Vernova in Stafford is seeking a Lead Designer - Transformer to join the Grid Solutions team. The role targets electrical or mechanical design for high‑voltage transformers, with emphasis on 400kV and beyond and HVDC, including HVAC experience.

You will perform detailed engineering design, calculations, and drawings, review specifications, lead tender and project designs, and coordinate with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Transformer design knowledge, including design calculations and active part design.
• Experience with 3D/2D tools (Inventor/AutoCAD).
• Experience with document management systems (WindChill).
• Knowledge of IEC60076, IEC61378, offshore/DNV standards is preferred.
• Ability to work independently on tender and project designs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare transformer detailed engineering design and drawings (400kV+), perform calculations.
• Review specifications, define clarifications/deviations and action plans.
• Select and specify components for ordering and manufacturing.
• Track KPIs for on-time delivery, right first time and budget adherence.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
