Job summary

GE - Renewable Energy in Stafford is seeking a Lead Designer - Transformer to join the Grid Solutions team. The role focuses on electrical or mechanical design for transformers, including HVAC knowledge, 400kV+ experience, and HVDC/offshore exposure.

You will work with 3D/2D tools and document control systems. Responsibilities include detailed engineering design, FEA review, specification of components, and leading cross-functional coordination with customers and suppliers to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical engineer with power transformer experience.
• Experience with 3D/2D tools (Inventor/AutoCAD).
• Transformer design knowledge including active parts, insulation and tank design.
• Familiar with IEC60076, IEC61378, DNV offshore standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare transformer detailed engineering design and calculations with relevant drawings (400kV+).
• Lead review of specifications and action plans for clarifications/deviations.
• Select and specify components for ordering and manufacturing.
• Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery and budget adherence.
