Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to join Newport secondary schools from September 2026. This Full-Time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with pay from £110 per day depending on experience.

Start date September 2026; full academic year contract. You will supervise classes in a range of subjects, deliver pre‑prepared work, maintain a positive learning environment, manage behaviour confidently, and report progress to staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience in schools is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across a range of subjects (no lesson planning required).
  • Deliver pre-prepared work left by the class teacher.
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and professionally.
  • Support students with questions while encouraging independent learning.
  • Report back to teaching staff on lesson progress and student behaviour.

Pay: From £110 per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full Academic Year

Teaching Personnel is working with a number of welcoming secondary schools across Newport that are looking for enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to join them this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring teachers, graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, or anyone with experience working with young people who wants to gain valuable classroom experience.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll step into the classroom when teachers are absent, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.

  • Supervising classes across a range of subjects (no lesson planning required)
  • Delivering pre-prepared work left by the class teacher
  • Maintaining a positive and productive learning environment
  • Managing classroom behaviour confidently and professionally
  • Supporting students with questions while encouraging independent learning
  • Reporting back to teaching staff on lesson progress and student behaviour

Educator Requirements

The ideal candidate will also require the following or already hold & willing to apply for: (We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
  • Aged 18 and over
  • Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of your onboarding with us
  • A Minimum of 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period of employment (or equivalent)
