Job summary

Hyreus is recruiting an experienced Temporary Works Engineer for an exciting opportunity based in Cumbria with a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor operating within the power and nuclear sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordination and technical management of temporary works across major civil projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Temporary Works Engineer or similar civil/construction role.
• Strong understanding of temporary works design, coordination and approvals.
• Experience on major civil/infrastructure projects for Tier One contractor.
• Knowledge of temporary works procedures and industry guidance (BS 5975).
• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; membership or progress toward registration advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate temporary works through planning, design, approval, implementation and removal.
• Maintain temporary works registers, schedules and technical documentation.
• Review proposals, calculations and design submissions for compliance.
• Ensure correct design checks, approvals and permits are in place before installation.
• Support site teams in safe implementation, inspection, and removal of temporary works.
• Liaise with external designers, consultants and subcontractors to resolve queries.
• Undertake site inspections to verify works align with approved designs.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, guidance and health/safety requirements.
• Contribute to risk assessments and lessons learned for process improvement.
