Job description

Purpose of the Role

McLaren Racing is evolving its Commercial and Marketing operating model to become more integrated, data-driven, automated and AI-enabled. This role will lead the technology and AI transformation workstream, defining the systems, platforms, data foundations and practical AI capabilities required to turn redesigned ways of working into measurable operational improvement.

Working alongside Process Engineers and business stakeholders, the role will connect process design, technology architecture and AI use cases into one coherent future-state operating model. The successful candidate will balance strategic leadership with practical delivery, ensuring recommendations are grounded, scalable and capable of being implemented.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the technology and AI workstream within the Commercial & Marketing transformation programme, defining a clear technology vision aligned to business objectives and AI strategy.
  • Assess the current technology landscape, identifying platform fragmentation, integration gaps, manual workarounds and opportunities for simplification.
  • Identify where AI can remove manual effort, improve decision quality, enhance insight, support personalisation or optimise content and workflows.
  • Design future-state technology architecture, including systems, data models, integrations, APIs and automation frameworks.
  • Ensure technology solutions support scalable operations, data-driven decision making and AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Partner with Process Engineers to translate future business processes into practical, system-enabled solutions.
  • Work closely with the Lead, AI Transformation to ensure AI use cases are supported by the right data, platforms and architecture.
  • Define how AI capabilities are embedded into core systems and workflows, avoiding siloed or point solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions across MarTech, data platforms, workflow automation and integration technologies.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and delivery plans, balancing business value, feasibility, scalability and long-term operability.
  • Drive platform rationalisation and consolidation, creating a connected and efficient technology ecosystem.
  • Work with internal teams, vendors and implementation partners to validate designs and support successful delivery.
  • Influence and engage senior stakeholders, translating complex technology concepts into clear business recommendations.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Strong experience in technology, digital or operating model transformation, gained in consulting or an in-house environment.
  • A background spanning one or more of business analysis, solution or enterprise architecture, technology consulting, product delivery or transformation leadership.
  • Proven experience assessing complex processes and technology landscapes and translating findings into practical future-state designs and roadmaps.
  • Experience designing or delivering systems that support integration, workflow automation, data-driven decision-making and AI-enabled use cases.
  • Practical understanding of data platforms, integrations, APIs, workflow tooling and modern cloud-based application environments.
  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, GenAI or intelligent automation to genuine business problems.
  • Ability to translate business problems into clear technology and AI requirements, with measurable outcomes.
  • Comfort working in complex, multi-system environments and engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness and capability to contribute selectively at a hands-on level through analysis, design, configuration, prototyping, testing or solution validation.
Personal Attributes
  • Able to connect business process, technology, data and AI into one coherent solution.
  • Commercially minded and focused on business value, operational performance and measurable outcomes.
  • Strategic enough to shape direction, but practical enough to get close to the detail and help make progress.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, challenging assumptions and creating structure.
  • Strong communicator and influencer across senior, technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Curious and externally aware, with sound judgement about where emerging technology is genuinely useful.
  • Collaborative, delivery-oriented and biased towards practical outcomes over theoretical design.
  • Comfortable moving between workshop facilitation, architecture and roadmap design, stakeholder communication and selective hands-on experimentation.
