An established industry player is seeking a Lead Technician to join their Welding Centre of Excellence in Bridgwater. In this pivotal role, you will maintain high standards in the training environments and support critical tasks for HPC contractors. Your practical and organizational skills will be essential as you manage contractor activities and ensure adherence to health and safety procedures. The Lead Technician will be based at the Welding Centre of Excellence on our Bridgwater campus, supporting the three Centres of Excellence and our key HPC partners. You will ensure that the environments are maintained to a high standard and are prepared for activities and training, which may include operating forklift trucks and overhead gantry cranes (training provided if not already certified).
Working with a small team responsible for managing the centres, you will utilize your practical and organizational skills alongside Engineering Construction industry specialists working at HPC. The centres serve as de-risking facilities where HPC contractors can practice and perfect critical tasks before onsite execution. They will also host practical training, assessments, and technical tests for the workforce preparing for site mobilization.
Your responsibilities include facilitating contractor activities, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met, and preparing practical environments in a timely manner. This involves adhering to Health & Safety procedures, setting up mock-up environments based on provided instructions, routine maintenance, developing materials and equipment, managing stock control, sourcing and purchasing materials, and conducting site inductions.
