Job summary

Elite Executive Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lead Teacher for a specialist college supporting young people with complex needs. The role combines classroom teaching with leadership to shape learning, support staff, and drive improvements for learners in a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have QTS (or be working toward it), safeguarding leadership experience, and a passion for helping young people progress while maintaining high standards and a positive learning culture.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or be working towards it.
• DSL experience or qualification is required.
• Experience with young people with complex needs or challenging behaviour.
• Experience in line management with KPI setting and supervision.
• Strong understanding of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies.
• Ability to adapt approach and personalise learning per learner.

Responsibilities

• Lead and improve teaching and learning quality across the site.
• Manage timetable and allocation of teaching and support staff.
• Develop and oversee subject area and curriculum development.
• Create and update schemes of work.
• Monitor learner performance data and drive improvements.
• Set targets and support staff to achieve them.
• Line manage staff with regular supervision and appraisals.
• Support staff development and professional growth.
• Collaborate with Centre Manager to maintain high standards.
• Create a safe, structured, and motivating environment for learners.
