Job summary

NHS England is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to steer the design and operation of national, highly available distributed systems. You will own end-to-end system space, including applications, environments, infrastructure and pipelines, while guiding teams to improve engineering maturity and security controls.

You will coach colleagues, resolve complex design decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable services that scale to support hundreds of thousands of users daily.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams within complex software systems.
• Ability to design and defend architectural decisions across applications, infrastructure and data flows.
• Proven track record implementing cloud-native patterns and reliable services.
