Job summary

Millfield School in Street, Somerset invites applications for a Lead Swim Coach to lead our high-performance swimming programme and to develop ranked age-group and youth swimmers through the athlete pathway.

The successful candidate will take overall programme delivery, contribute to swimmer development planning and inspire athletes to realise their full potential in a demanding school environment. Minimum UKCC Level 2 (Level 3 preferred) is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum UKCC Level 2 qualification (Level 3 preferred).
  • Proven track record of developing swimmers to national championship standard.
  • Experience leading a programme and managing coaching teams.
  • Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles and the Aquatics GB framework.
  • Experience coaching water polo or athletic development is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead programme delivery for the school’s swim programme.
  • Contribute to swimmer development planning and pathways.
  • Inspire athletes to achieve excellence in a high-performance environment.
  • Collaborate with fixtures, tournaments and events support as required.

Job description

Millfield School is seeking an exceptional Lead Swim Coach to join our renowned swimming programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and performance-focused coach to play a pivotal role in the development of ranked age-group and youth swimmers, guiding them through our athlete pathway and helping them realise their full potential. The successful candidate will lead programme delivery, contribute to swimmer development planning, and inspire athletes to achieve excellence in a high-performance environment.

We are seeking a coach with a minimum UKCC Level 2 qualification (Level 3 preferred) and a proven track record of developing swimmers to at least national championship standard. Experience leading a programme, managing coaching teams, or undertaking broader programme responsibilities would be highly desirable.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles and the Aquatics GB Optimal Athlete Development Framework. Experience coaching across complementary disciplines such as water polo and athletic development would be advantageous.

This is a year round role working 42 hours per week, typically across Monday to Saturday, with occasional Sunday work required to support fixtures, tournaments or events.
