Job summary

Progroup Recruitment Limited is seeking a Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor for site-based work in London and Essex. You will own the survey function, combining fire stopping surveys with coordination, pricing support, and client management. Fire stopping is the primary focus, with fire door knowledge valuable.

You will lead a small two-person team, using Bolster and OneTrace to record findings, and contribute to business development and tender activity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Passive Fire Protection Surveyor with a focus on fire stopping is essential.
• Hands-on experience installing fire protection systems is essential.
• Strong understanding of fire safety regulations, standards and passive fire compliance.
• Proven ability to prepare cost estimates and support project pricing is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out and oversee fire compartmentation surveys with a primary focus on fire stopping across London and Essex.
• Conduct fire door surveys as a secondary discipline — experience in this area is advantageous.
• Identify defects and non-compliance issues against current regulations and manufacturer standards.
• Coordinate survey schedules, RAMS, equipment and labour across the team.
• Produce high-quality, accurate survey reports using Bolster and OneTrace.
• Prepare data for pricing and produce cost estimates and project pricing.
• Attend site visits and support strong client relationships.
• Promote additional services and support business development including tender submissions.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety, ISO and industry standards throughout.
• Investigate non-conformances and maintain accurate records.
• Lead, support and develop a small team of two surveyors.

Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor

Location: London & Essex (Site Based)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE + Benefits

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor to join a well-established and market-leading passive fire protection specialist with decades of experience delivering high-quality fire protection services across healthcare, commercial, residential, education, student accommodation, industrial and infrastructure sectors. The business has a strong reputation for getting it right first time, maintaining longstanding client relationships and delivering works to the highest standards. You will be leading a small, established team of two surveyors, taking ownership of the full survey process from initial order through to final report across London and Essex.

The Role

As Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor, you will take full ownership of the survey function, combining hands-on fire stopping and compartmentation surveys with coordination, pricing support and client relationship management. Fire stopping is the primary focus of the role, with fire door knowledge a valuable additional skill. You will use Bolster and OneTrace to record and report findings, and will play a key role in supporting the wider business through business development and tender activity.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Passive Fire Protection Surveyor with a strong focus on fire stopping — essential
• Hands-on experience installing fire protection systems — essential
• Strong understanding of fire safety regulations, standards and passive fire compliance
• Proven experience preparing cost estimates and supporting project pricing — essential
• Experience using Bolster and OneTrace or similar digital reporting tools — desirable
• Business development experience including advertising and tender submissions — desirable
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Minimum ASFP or IFE Level 2 qualification — required
• Formal fire door training from BRE, FDIS, FPA, IFI or equivalent — required
• Knowledge of FIRAS, BM TRADA or IFC standards — desirable
• Full UK Driving Licence — required
