Job summary

GE Grid Solutions in the United Kingdom seeks a Secondary Design Manager to lead a geographically diverse team of designers, subcontractors, engineers and project teams focused on protection and control schematics and substation equipment.

The role acts as the technical guarantor for design performance, balancing budget, deadlines and quality while promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree - electrical or mechanical within the field.
• 4+ years of engineering experience in project & EPC environments in T&D, Power Gen or Oil & Gas, or 2–4 Medium Set projects as Lead Engineer.
• Experience with project technical management in multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces.
• Experience managing externally subcontracted design work packages of various sizes.
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design team across diverse stakeholders.
• Plan basic and detailed design activities and monitor execution progress.
• Ensure on-time delivery of design and partner documents to stakeholders with suitable quality.
• Coordinate with PEM/PM for technical meetings with partners when appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements and manage design issues with proposed solutions.
