Job summary

Turner Lovell is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the civil design of electricity substations across the UK, from concept to completion. The role involves overseeing drawings, calculations and specifications for civil structures, ensuring safety, quality and budget compliance.

You will engage with clients and internal teams, attend reviews, and drive design decisions while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to project success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience in power transmission, substations, or related infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD; Civil 3D, Revit or Navisworks is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress and ensure scope alignment.
• Coordinate with internal design teams and external stakeholders to meet safety, quality and budget requirements.
• Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with electrical and structural disciplines.
• Guide and support junior team members.
