Job summary

WSP seeks a Principal Structural Engineer to lead design of tunnels, shafts and underground works from concept through construction. You will apply advanced structural engineering to deliver safe, efficient and innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with Eurocodes, BS codes and ITA guidelines across UK and beyond.

Collaborating with geotechnical teams, you will mentor junior engineers, manage multi-disciplinary delivery and contribute to business development while upholding safety and project

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with relevant experience in underground structures.
• Experience in tunnels, shafts and associated works across delivery phases.
• Strong knowledge of loading, ground-structure interaction and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design for tunnels, shafts and related works from concept to construction.
• Apply advanced engineering principles for safe, efficient underground projects.
• Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, BS codes, ITA guidelines and local regs.
• Perform and review load assessments and ground-structure interaction modelling.
• Collaborate with geotechnical teams and manage multi-disciplinary delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training programs.
• Support business development through proposals and client engagement.
