Position: Lead Speech and Language Therapist

Are you an experienced and passionate Speech and Language Therapist seeking your next career step? Do you want to lead and shape specialist therapy services in a neurological rehabilitation setting? If yes, this opportunity is for you!

We are looking for a Lead Speech and Language Therapist (experience equivalent to Band 7) to join our multidisciplinary team at Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre. You will be supported by our Head of Therapies to lead and develop the SLT service, providing expert assessment and therapy to individuals with complex neurological conditions, including brain injury, stroke, and progressive neurological disorders. Collaborate with a skilled team to contribute to patient-centered rehabilitation plans that maximize communication and swallowing outcomes.

This role offers the chance to drive service improvements, provide clinical leadership, and support junior colleagues' professional development. What you'll be working:

Standard hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday. We value work-life balance and are open to discussing flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.

What you'll be doing:

• Conduct comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy assessments and outcome measurements for patients with complex neurological presentations following brain injury.
• Utilize clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to determine appropriate care pathways, employing specialist treatment skills.
• Develop, oversee, and evaluate individualized treatment programs and goals, advising the wider team.
• Create comprehensive discharge plans, liaising with community services.
• Manage clinical risk within your caseload and support risk management across the team.
• Ensure staff receive regular supervision, appraisals, and personal development plans.
• Provide clinical advice and support to team members, staff, and students.
• Attend relevant meetings impacting the SLT team, such as Clinical Governance.
• Contribute to audits and may be required to provide cover at nearby sites.
• Maintain safety and uphold human rights.

What you'll have:

• HCPC registration
• Postgraduate dysphagia training
• Extensive experience in neurorehabilitation
• Ability to manage a complex caseload independently
• Experience supervising junior team members and contributing to service development
• Enhanced DBS clearance required
