Job summary

The Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust invites an experienced Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Community Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation Service in North and East Cornwall. You will deliver specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation across home, community and outpatient settings, handling a varied caseload.

As a senior clinician, you will lead on discharge planning, risk assessment and contribute to service development, education and quality

Qualifications

• Experience in advanced neuro-rehabilitation and stroke care.
• Experience supervising staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highly specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with stroke and complex neurological conditions within community and outpatient settings.
• Manage a complex caseload, using advanced clinical reasoning to support patients with physical, cognitive, perceptual, emotional and behavioural challenges to achieve meaningful outcomes.
• Lead on complex discharge planning, risk assessment and rehabilitation programmes to maximise independence, participation and quality of life.
• Provide specialist advice, consultation and support to multidisciplinary team members, patients, carers and partner agencies.
• Support the development and delivery of integrated stroke and neurological rehabilitation pathways.
• Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.
• Supervise, support and develop occupational therapy staff, support workers and students, promoting clinical excellence and professional development.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams, fostering positive working relationships and contributing to coordinated care.
• Act as a specialist resource for neurological rehabilitation and stroke care, providing leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
