Job summary

DTC, a Codan Company, is seeking a Software Test Team Lead in the UK to guide a team of test engineers ensuring our embedded software and communications products meet stringent quality and reliability standards.

The role combines hands-on test leadership with strategy, planning, defect management, and close collaboration with software, systems, and product teams across Europe and beyond.

Qualifications

• Strong background in software testing and QA within embedded or mission-critical environments.
• Experience leading a software test team across multiple priorities and releases.
• Knowledge of test design, exploratory, regression, and integration testing; defect lifecycle management.
• Experience creating and maintaining test plans, test cases, test scripts, test frameworks, and release quality assessments.
• Exposure to full SDLC and release support with defect analysis after releases.
• Proficiency with test management tools, defect tracking, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and mentor a team of software test engineers to build capability and accuracy.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute testing across features, releases, and products.
• Define test strategies, plans, cases, environments, and completion criteria.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and risks.
• Ensure coverage across functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.
• Promote automation, tooling, and CI/CD integration to raise quality and delivery confidence.
• Review requirements and designs to identify risks and early defect prevention opportunities.
• Manage defect triage, root-cause analysis, retesting, and quality risk reporting.
