Job summary

easyJet is seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Enable Ground Crew based in Luton with a hybrid working pattern. You will own the technical strategy for mission-critical systems, including mobile-first tools and real-time data feeds used by ground crews.

The role blends hands-on coding (60%+), squad leadership for 1–4 engineers, and close collaboration with engineering managers and product owners to deliver high-quality software at scale.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering foundations with production systems experience.
• Hands-on contributor with light leadership of 1–4 engineers.
• Experience across backend, frontend, and cloud technologies.
• Familiar with CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Proven mentoring and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate production software hands-on.
• Lead the squad's technical delivery, breaking down problems and maintaining momentum.
• Make squad-level technical decisions balancing speed and quality.
• Set engineering standards and ensure code quality.
• Advance CI/CD, automated testing, and reliable production operations.
• Foster continuous improvement and technical curiosity.
• Integrate AI-assisted development tools into workflow.
• Collaborate with product, design and stakeholders to solve business problems.
