Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Lead Software Engineer for our Technology team. You’ll guide a team delivering secure, scalable software across cloud and on‑prem environments, reporting to the Head of Software Engineering.

You will shape platforms and standards while managing technical debt and ensuring timely delivery. You’ll mentor engineers, promote Agile practices, and collaborate with QA, IT Ops, and Product teams to produce high‑quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a software engineering team and delivering scalable software.
• Strong grasp of architectural principles for modular, secure systems.
• Proven ability to shape software architecture with focus on microservices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing software engineering team with technical direction and growth opportunities.
