Job summary

CoStar Group in London is seeking a senior software engineer to design, implement, and scale API-driven systems handling terabytes of data. You will work across the Research Process applications, delivering robust code using C#, .NET, Python, JSON, and AWS, while partnering with QA and DevOps to ensure high performance.

The role requires 5+ years in .NET, strong SQL Server and ETL skills, and experience with Databricks.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of .NET development (C#) experience with Web API.
• 3+ years with SQL Server including ETL/data pipeline work.
• Track record of launching data-intensive products.
• Ability to design architectures and ETL strategies.
• Expertise in database design and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with cloud relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with .NET Core, Python, Jupyter, AWS, and Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Understand business drivers behind the software.
• Take hands-on design, architecture and dev activities across Research Process apps.
• Work on large, API-driven systems with massive data and high transactions.
• Produce robust, maintainable code using C#, .NET, Python, JSON, SQL Server, AWS, Databricks.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure high-quality software.
• Serve as key member of product launch team and work with DevOps on ops issues.
• Deliver work meeting specs, defect-free and high performance; mentor other developers.
• Facilitate ideas exchange and evaluation of emerging technologies.

Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
• A track record of commitment to prior employers.
• 5+ years of .NET development (C#) experience, including cross-platform communication technologies such as Web API.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server, including writing SQL queries, data matching, cleansing, enriching, and ETL/data pipeline engineering.
• A demonstrable track record of building and launching successful products that leverage terabytes of data.
• Ability to analyse technical requirements and design new architectures, data models, and ETL strategies.
• Expertise in database design, complex T-SQL programming, performance tuning, and index analysis.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with .NET Core, Python, Jupyter Notebook, AWS, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Databricks and Lakehouse architecture.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand what drives the business for which we are building software.
• Take hands-on responsibility for design, architecture, and development activities across the Research Process applications.
• Work on big, distributed, API-driven systems operating on massive amounts of data in high transaction volume applications for tens of thousands of users.
• Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code using our primary tools: C#, .NET Framework, Python, JSON, SQL Server, AWS, and Databricks.
• Collaborate with our QA resources to ensure the software we deliver is of the highest quality.
• Act as a key member of the product launch team and work closely with DevOps to resolve operational issues.
• Deliver work products that meet specifications, are free of defects, and have optimal performance.Take an active role in mentoring other developers.
• Facilitate discussions among developers to exchange ideas and introduce innovative technologies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that can strengthen our technology platform and development practices.
