Anson Mccade in Guildford/Frimley is seeking a senior Lead SOC Architect for a client‑facing role in the Defence and Government sectors. The position is hybrid, with salary from £85,000 to £100,000 plus benefits.

You will design end‑to‑end SOC solutions across people, process, policy and technology, and engage with senior stakeholders to meet accreditation and security requirements. The role requires strong knowledge of cloud and on‑premise security, risk assessment, and secure‑by‑design

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SOC operating models, people, process and technology.
• Experience with at least two of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage with senior client stakeholders to understand security requirements.

• Develop CONOPS, high/low designs and deployment designs.
• Design and integrate security technologies and tooling.
• Assess and improve existing SOC capabilities and maturity.
• Support deployment and configuration of new security solutions.
• Advise on risks, vulnerabilities and mitigations.
• Design scalable, resilient on‑premise and cloud architectures.
• Collaborate with technical specialists and product teams.

Job description

Salary: £37,000 - 68,500 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for an experienced Lead SOC Architect with a strong background in SOC architecture and cyber security.
• We need significant experience designing, building or deploying Security Operations Centre solutions.
• We require experience with at least two of the following: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence.
• We need a strong understanding of SOC operating models, including people, process, policy, services and technology.
• We need good understanding of common cyber threats and appropriate mitigation techniques.
• We need experience with risk assessment and vulnerability management.
• We need strong knowledge of on-premise architecture and infrastructure.
• We need experience designing cloud security architectures.
• We need understanding of security principles including least privilege, encryption and secure-by-design architecture.
• We need experience designing scalable and resilient solutions.
• We need familiarity with architectural frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman, alongside architectural modelling techniques.
• We need strong understanding of enterprise IT services and security technologies.
• We need experience working with Government, Defence or other highly regulated environments.
• We need strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Active SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:

• We develop and contribute to CONOPS, high-level designs, low-level designs and deployment-level designs.
• We design and integrate a range of security technologies and tooling.
• We assess existing SOC capabilities and identify opportunities to improve security maturity.
• We support the deployment and configuration of new security solutions.
• We advise on security risks, vulnerabilities and appropriate mitigation strategies.
• We design scalable, resilient and secure on-premise and cloud-based architectures.
• We work with technical specialists and product teams to develop appropriate solutions for complex customer requirements.
• We research and evaluate new technologies where requirements are novel or have not previously been encountered.
• We work across Agile, Lean, iterative/incremental and Waterfall delivery environments.
