Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Paignton is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor – Nautical to survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels, ensuring compliance with UK and international safety, security and environmental standards. • Survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels to ensure safety compliance.
• Issue certification and provide technical advice to vessel owners and industry colleagues.
• Maintain training records and ensure competence and integrity per MCA standards.

Responsibilities

• As directed by the Technical Manager or Principal Marine Surveyor, train or coach Marine Surveyor colleagues to ensure consistent MCA activities.
• Carrying out surveys leading to statutory certificates for small/non-convention vessels; lead surveyor in most cases.
• Carrying out inspections of small/non-convention vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with international conventions and UK requirements.
• Provide advice to industry and the public per MCA policies; be a point of contact for communications with vessel owners.
• Assist in maintaining records and undergo MCA peer review/activity monitoring processes.
