Working for us, you'll deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions that enhance life and protect our shared future.

Amey has a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Senior Environmental Consultant to join the team. This position involves acting as a team leader, overseeing the production of technically sound deliverables for environmental commissions, such as reports, designs, calculations, and documentation, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and programme criteria. You will manage a medium-sized, locally based, single-discipline technical team, including the people management role when required.

What we need from you:
  • Lead a team to produce technically sound deliverables for environmental commissions, complying with all relevant standards and client requirements, working independently and supervising junior staff.
  • Prepare and check reports, designs, calculations, and documentation as part of scheme deliverables.
  • Oversee junior staff actions, taking responsibility for their work.
  • Manage project budgets and control costs related to deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers, attend progress meetings, and respond to queries.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and work-winning activities.
  • Work on-site as needed, including out-of-hours work.
  • Assume people management responsibilities when required.
Qualifications:

Professional competency to Chartered Environmentalist standard, as defined by the relevant professional institution. Chartered status may be essential for certain contracts.

Skills:
  • Apply environmental management principles to complex situations, adapting concepts to reach correct outcomes.
  • Experience with design and specification processes, able to advise and check deliverables.
  • Proficient with relevant software and analytical tools, capable of reviewing others' work.
  • Good knowledge of suppliers and services, with contacts within the supply chain.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, capable of presenting arguments, delivering training, and proposing ideas.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations and risk assessment, capable of managing hazards and risks, and acting as Principal Designer when appropriate.
  • Ability to resolve interface clashes and ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • Strong supervisory and people management skills for a medium-sized team.
