Job summary

Tymberwood Academy in Gravesend is seeking an enthusiastic Special Education Needs Teacher to start as soon as possible. You will identify pupils with SEND and lead in developing teaching, learning and small-step curriculum within the SEND unit, while shaping assessment processes with the SENDCo.

You will also provide guidance to colleagues across the school to ensure SEND provision achieves positive outcomes for all pupils with SEN or a disability, while upholding safeguarding and inclusion

Qualifications

• Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the Primary curriculum and SEND provision in the school.
• Have a sound knowledge of how to use IT effectively throughout their professional role.
• Understand the responsibilities under the SEND Code of Practice and know how to seek advice from specialists.
• Have a secure knowledge of a range of learning and physical needs and difficulties, such as, ADHD, ODD, ADD, SEMH, ASD, Downs syndrome, HI, VI.

Responsibilities

• Identify pupils with SEND and take a lead role in developing teaching and learning and small step curriculum in the SEND unit.
• Develop assessment processes in conjunction with the SENDCo.
• Provide support and guidance to colleagues across the school to ensure SEND provision promotes good outcomes for all pupils with SEN or a disability.
