Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking a Catering Supervisor at Abingdon School to manage daily catering operations, uphold high service standards, ensure food quality and safety, and support staff training in a demanding school environment.

You will oversee service periods, maintain hygienic catering spaces, and collaborate with management to deliver smooth operations across events and day-to-day functions.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience within catering, hospitality, or food service environments.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Experience working in busy catering operations serving large numbers of customers.
• Good knowledge of food safety, food hygiene, and allergen legislation.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A positive, professional, and customer focused attitude.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Experience with stock control and food cost management.
• Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (essential)
• NVQ Level 2 in Catering, Hospitality, or equivalent qualification (desirable

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting catering staff during daily service periods
• Ensuring food is prepared, presented, and served to the highest standards
• Maintaining clean, safe, and organised catering areas at all times
• Supporting stock management, ordering, stock rotation, and waste control
• Monitoring food safety, allergen management, and hygiene compliance
• Providing excellent customer service and resolving day-to-day service issues
• Assisting with staff training, onboarding, and performance support
• Opening and closing catering facilities where required
• Working closely with the management team to ensure smooth and efficient operations
• Supporting hospitality functions, events, and special occasions across the school
