Job summary

Chartwells Independent, part of Compass Group UK&I, is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to oversee all education catering operations on a full-time basis, contracted to 35 hours per week. You will ensure kitchens run smoothly, deliver exceptional food experiences, manage inventories and budgets, lead teams, and uphold health and safety standards across the unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of catering experience.
• NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate required.
• Strong financial acumen and budget awareness.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-standards food and supervise culinary teams.
• Oversee in-unit catering operations, inventories and budgets.
• Implement action plans and monitor KPIs with line manager.
• Represent Compass Group UK&I/Chartwells and uphold brand image.
• Identify new concepts to drive sales and quality service.
• Coordinate between customers and teams; train and support staff.
• Enforce Health & Safety standards across catering and service teams.
