Job summary

Chartwells, part of Compass Group UK&I, is seeking a School Catering Manager to lead unit and service counters in educational settings. You will supervise teams, manage inventories and budgets, and ensure exceptional food and customer service while delivering memorable experiences for pupils and staff.

The role emphasises health and safety, performance monitoring against KPIs, and opportunities for career progression through our Learning programmes.

Qualifications

Two years of management experience within a similar sector or industry.
Experience managing teams in a catering/education environment is advantageous.
Strong financial acumen and budget monitoring skills.
Proficient in Excel/spreadsheets and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

Supervising teams to deliver high-quality food and customer service.
Overseeing unit operations, inventories, budgets, and action plans.
Communicating with line manager to monitor KPIs and targets.
Representing Chartwells UK&I and maintaining a positive brand image.
Identifying opportunities for new service concepts to drive sales.
Liaising between customers and internal teams to exceed expectations.
Training and supporting teams to excel in their roles.
Implementing and reviewing Health & Safety standards across catering and service teams.
