Futureheads is recruiting a Lead Scala Developer for a Gov project based in Newcastle. The role focuses on leading Scala development, designing microservices with Play Framework, and guiding junior engineers in a fast-paced government context.

You will work in a MacOS/Linux environment, drive architecture decisions, participate in CI/CD pipelines, and champion TDD and Agile practices to deliver high-impact solutions within an initial 3-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in MacOS or Linux environments.
• Previous Lead Developer or equivalent leadership role.
• Hands-on Scala development experience.
• Microservices with Play Framework.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and modern dev tools (IntelliJ, VS Code, sbt).
• Strong Agile knowledge and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience influencing architectural decisions across large codebases.
