Job summary

IQVIA Laboratories in Portishead is seeking a hands-on Unit Manager to lead an in vivo facility within Discovery Sciences. You will oversee a small rodent unit, ensure ASPA compliance, hold a Home Office PIL as required, and manage a team of Technical and Husbandry Specialists while upholding animal welfare and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in biological or life sciences or significant equivalent experience in laboratory animal science.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience overseeing smaller teams.
• Experience working in a regulated animal research environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and people management for a small rodent animal unit.
• Ensure ASPA compliance and Home Office requirements.
• Hold Home Office Personal Licence (PIL) and perform licensed procedures as required.
• Oversee animal welfare, husbandry standards, and health monitoring.
• Support staff training, performance management and rota planning.
• Maintain records on animal use, staffing, training, and compliance.
