Job summary

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Chief Respiratory Physiologist to lead the lung function service. You will work with the Consultant Lead and MDT to implement policies, maintain clinical standards and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

You will support junior staff, foster a high-performing team, deliver complex tests, CPAP management and education across clinical teams to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years post-registration NHS band 6 experience in respiratory physiology
• Management and development of clinical protocols
• Delivery of therapeutic CPAP and sleep clinics experience
• Experience in teaching/mentoring staff
• Experience in managing conflict and resolving complaints

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine lung function tests: Spirometry, FeNO, lung volumes, TLco, plethysmography and reversibility testing
• Perform complex tests: histamine challenge, CPET, sleep studies, fitness to fly, LTOT/ABG
• Ensure data quality through equipment calibration and QC
• Maintain technical quality with national guidelines
• Adhere to legal/ethical obligations
• Provide expert guidance to MDT and educate staff
• Support CPAP/bi-level ventilation caseload
• Share diagnostic insights and train allied health professionals and clinicians
