Job summary

The Elms Practice is seeking an experienced Respiratory Nurse to lead and develop respiratory services within our primary care team. You will manage patients with asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions, working closely with GPs and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The role involves leading respiratory reviews, optimizing treatment, providing patient education, and supporting clinical quality standards, including QOF and vaccination initiatives.

Qualifications

• Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience managing patients with asthma and COPD.
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
• Experience working within primary care, community, or respiratory services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Good IT skills and experience using clinical systems such as EMIS Web.

Responsibilities

• Run independent respiratory clinics for patients with asthma and COPD.
• Perform annual and routine respiratory reviews.
• Conduct and interpret spirometry where appropriately qualified.
• Review inhaler technique and optimise treatment plans.
• Develop personalised care plans to support self-management.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and disease registers.
• Support achievement of QOF and other quality improvement objectives.
• Promote smoking cessation, vaccination uptake, and respiratory health education.
• Participate in clinical audits and service development initiatives.
