Job summary

Involve Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced Technical (Design) Manager to lead design coordination for social housing and residential construction projects across South Wales.

You will work with the Construction Director, project teams and consultants to drive design from feasibility to handover, ensuring buildable, compliant and cost-effective outcomes. The role requires coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing design programmes, and maintaining compliance with Welsh Building

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or HNC/HND in construction, architecture, engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in technical/design management within residential construction, ideally including affordable housing in Wales.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, residential fire safety, risk management and QA.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive approach to compliance, buildability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and coordinate architectural, structural, civil, fire safety and services design.
• Manage technical information, design programmes, approvals, risk registers, and design change control.
• Ensure compliance with Welsh Building Regulations and client specifications.
• Coordinate approvals, SuDS and building safety requirements.
• Manage design costs and interfaces with commercial and construction teams.
• Monitor construction quality and resolve technical issues.
• Oversee commissioning, handover and aftercare, driving project improvements.
