Job summary

Involve Recruitment Ltd. is partnering with a leading regional building contractor in Cardiff, UK, to appoint an experienced Design Manager.

You will lead the design process from pre-construction through to completion, coordinating with architects, engineers and subcontractors to deliver a diverse portfolio of projects. The role demands strong technical knowledge, excellent communication and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and tight deadlines, with an emphasis on value engineering

Qualifications

• Proven experience in design management within construction, ideally with a main contractor.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and building regulations.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with problem-solving ability.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and meeting tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of M&E design, particularly electrical services, is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple projects.
• Liaise with architects, consultants, engineers and subcontractors.
• Ensure designs meet programme, budget, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and design optimisation.
• Work closely with commercial, pre-construction and site teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
• Manage design programmes, technical queries and design risk.
