Job summary

NHS Jobs is seeking a nursing leader to guide care support staff and ensure high standards of nursing administration, assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation for residents in a residential setting.

The role involves collaboration with the Deputy Manager, leading multidisciplinary reviews, safeguarding residents, and upholding Shaftesbury policy frameworks to sustain quality care.

Responsibilities

• Act as shift leader on the roster to ensure safety tasks are completed and recorded.
• Monitor staffing levels and seek replacement cover when shortfalls occur.
• Be a role model delivering evidence-based, client-centred care to residents with physical disabilities.
• Coordinate, prepare and participate in service user reviews including reports for meetings.
• Provide expert nursing advice and support to the MDT caring for residents, especially in the residential home.
• Undertake quality standards monitoring and clinical audit systems for care of residents.
• Collaborate with MDT to ensure care delivered is quality-driven and aligned with best practice and standards.
• Participate in holistic care plan meetings, MDT meetings and case conferences.
• Promote a homely atmosphere where residents' rights, dignity and choices are preserved.
• Work with the Deputy Manager to identify areas for change or opportunities to improve treatment, care and support.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify family and carer needs and advise staff accordingly.
• Ensure stores and other areas of potential loss and confidential information are secured per Shaftesbury policy.
• Report and record any complaints or compliments within Shaftesbury timeframes and take remedial action after consulting the unit Manager/Deputy.
• Report and record any accidents or incidents within Shaftesbury timeframes and take remedial action after consulting the unit Manager/Deputy.
• Report and record safeguarding incidents within Shaftesbury timeframes and take remedial action after consulting the unit manager/Deputy.
• Be a key Nurse for individual service users with Nursing care packages.
• Ensure Shaftesbury policy and procedures are adhered to.
