Job summary

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is seeking an experienced Refuse Driver / Loader (Assistant Team Leader) to join the Waste & Recycling team in Redcar. You will drive and supervise rounds, ensuring safe and efficient collections across the borough.

The role requires a valid HGV Class C licence and CPC, plus experience driving large vehicles and working outdoors in all weather. Hybrid working is available where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class C licence.
• Driver CPC.
• Experience driving large goods vehicles.
• Understanding of health and safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Drive allocated refuse collection vehicles and other vehicles as required.
• Supervise collection crews and ensure rounds are completed safely and efficiently.
• Assist with collection of household waste, recycling, green waste, bulky waste and commercial waste.
• Complete vehicle checks, drivers' hours records and operational documentation accurately.
• Follow health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices.
